Privacy Policy
CookBank ("we", "our", "us") is a recipe management app developed by RUAH. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email, and a unique account identifier. We do not receive or store your password.
- Recipe Data: Recipes you create, scan, or save are stored on our servers to sync across your devices. Private recipe details are encrypted before cloud sync unless you choose to publish them.
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics such as feature usage and crash reports via Sentry to improve the app. This data cannot identify you personally.
- Photos: Recipe photos and cooking journal photos are stored locally on your device and on our servers for sync. We do not access your photo library without your permission.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the CookBank service
- To sync your recipes across devices
- To process recipe images and optional AI features when needed to perform that feature
- To manage your subscription and purchases
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit with HTTPS and TLS.
For private recipes, CookBank encrypts recipe content, ingredients, steps, and sensitive notes on your device before cloud sync, and the server stores encrypted data that is not readable from our database. Recipe titles, tags, photos, and some non-sensitive metadata remain readable so the app can display lists, search, and sync properly. If you publish a recipe, it becomes readable by design.
Third-Party Services
- Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In: For authentication only
- RevenueCat: For subscription and purchase management
- Sentry: For crash reporting and error tracking
- Google Gemini / OpenAI: For AI recipe processing and optional recipe features such as import, help, translation, nutrition, or shopping assistance. Data is sent only when needed for the feature you use.
- Expo Updates: For delivering app updates
Your Rights
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app
- Export your recipe data
- Request a copy of your personal data by contacting us
Children's Privacy
CookBank is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
