PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: May 2, 2026

CookBank ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the CookBank mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and encrypted password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from those providers.

Recipe data: Recipes you create, import, or save are stored on our servers and synchronized across your devices. This includes ingredients, steps, photos, notes, and scores.

Usage data: We collect usage statistics to improve the app, such as feature use, screen views, and approximate time spent on each screen. We do not track your location.

How We Use Your Information

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Recipe data is stored in PostgreSQL databases with regular backups.

End-to-End Encryption

Private recipes are end-to-end encrypted. Only you can read them. We cannot access your private recipe data. Your encryption key is generated on your device and stored securely in your device's keychain — it is never sent to our servers. Published recipes are intentionally unencrypted so other users can discover them.

Third-Party Services

Your Rights

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Deleted recipes are kept in trash for 30 days before permanent deletion. When you delete your account, all data is removed within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

CookBank is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app.
